Kristen Schaal Remakes Natalie Imbruglia’s Torn Video

On 3 December 2014, Imbruglia announced plans to release a newly recorded album of songs originally performed by male artists. The album, her first since 2009’s Come To Life, is scheduled for release in July 2015, to be followed by an album of original material. Musician Mikal Cronin and comedians Kurt Braunohler and Kristen Schaal team up to create a shot-by-shot reenactment of Natalie Imbruglia’s music video “”Torn”” with some surprise guest characters for Cronin’s music video release “Turn Around.” This collaboration is part of JASH’s $5K Video Series where JASH pairs an up-and-coming musical act with a comedian, gives them $5000, and tells them to spend the money however they want, as long as they spend it all and come back with a video.

Natalie Jane Imbruglia (/ɪmˈbrliə/; born 4 February 1975) is an Australian-British[1] singer/songwriter, model and actress. In the early 1990s, she played Beth Brennan in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. Three years after leaving the programme, she began a singing career, with the cover and hit “Torn“.

Her subsequent album, Left of the Middle (1997), sold 7 million copies worldwide.[2] Further releases, White Lilies Island (2001) andCounting Down the Days (2005), did not sell as well, although the latter became number one in the UK. In 2007 she made Glorious: The Singles 97–07, a hits compilation featuring the single “Glorious“, which peaked at 23 in the UK singles chart.

She co-starred in the 2003 film Johnny English and was leading actress in the 2009 film Closed for Winter.
