The popular franchise Underworld gets a reboot. The greedy film companies still think there is money to earn from this series apparently.
To date, the franchise has made a shade over $450m – not a bad sum, given that they didn’t cost a huge amount to make in the first place.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series is set to be rebooted, with Cory Goodman (who previously wrote the 2011 film Priest, which had a similar action-horror atmosphere) in charge of writing the script. Presumably, the success of great female characters such as Marvel’s Black Widow, Katniss Everdeen and, most recently, Scarlett Johansson’s Lucy have hastened the decision – and with good reason. With a decent actress and director attached, there’s no reason why a new and perfectly decent gothic action film couldn’t be made from the Underworld premise.
Lakeshore Entertainment is moving forward with a reboot of the vampire action franchise, hiring Cory Goodman to write the script.
Lakeshore’s Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi are producing.
