Jack White Drops New Video ‘Connected By Love’

Jack White has officially announced his next solo album. It’s called Boarding House Reach and it will be out via Third Man and Columbia. The LP does not currently have a release date. Along with the announcement, White has shared two news songs from the record: “Connected by Love” and “Respect Commander.” Check those out below. Boarding House Reach follows White’s 2014 album Lazaretto and the compilation Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016. He is set to headline this year’s Governors Ball alongside Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Eminem, and Travis Scott.

In March 2017, in an interview with the New Yorker, White revealed that he was in the process of writing new music. At the time, he had set up shop in a small Nashville apartment, where he recorded on “a reel-to-reel tape recorder that he bought when he was fourteen with money he made mowing lawns.” His goal was “to try to write songs where I can’t be heard by the next-door neighbor. And I want to write like Michael Jackson would write — instead of writing parts on the instruments or humming melodies, you think of them. To do everything in my head and to do it in silence and use only one room.” White reportedly spent “several hours a day” crafting in this space. On 27 July 2017, Jack White announced that he was working on his third solo album, with recording sessions taking place in New York and Los Angeles. In November, during a keynote speech at the Making Vinyl conference in Detroit on Monday, White offered an update on the as-yet-unannounced album. “It’s practically done, just some finishing touches,” he said, according to Billboard. “It’s a bizarre one,” he added. “I’ve just got to let it settle. I need to listen to it by myself. I haven’t been able to listen to it by myself for awhile.” On 12 December, White released a 4-minute video titled “Servings and Portions from my Boarding House Reach”, which featured short sound bites of new music interspersed with white noise. The new music is believed to be from the upcoming untitled solo album.
